Sometimes children cannot be managed medically on OPD basis treatment. They might have a complex condition that needs continuous monitoring in hospital or they might need medications through intravenous route rather than oral which cannot be done at home. Such children are admitted in hospital and managed as in-patient care.
The children are monitored round the clock by trained nurses and doctors and continuous progress of the child’s medical condition is kept under check round the clock.
The duration of stay in hospital depends on the severity of the medical illness and the kind of response your child shows to treatment.
